- The Smart Shot is given in one injection
- The Quit 123 is also given in three injections
The cost for these injections ranges from $300 to $600. Some insurance companies do cover most of the cost for these injections. But it still has not been proven that they really do help stop the withdrawal of nicotine for everyone.
People who should not take these shots are pregnant women, people who have heart rhythm problems, people with prostate problems and people being treated with a mood elevating medication.
The side effects of these shots are dizziness, dry mouth, urination problems, vision problems, appetite changes, and confusion. If these shots are administered to close together they can also cause a heart attack or a stroke.
The shot does not contain nicotine; however it does send messages to the brain that gives your body the same effects of nicotine. For some people it has worked, but for others with the larger withdrawal symptoms it does not. |
