This can cause nicotine overdose. Nicotine acts as a neurostimulator by mimicking the action of acetylcholine. This makes it a habit forming substance. Therefore, nicotine gum should to be used for more than 3 months. Users should reduce the dosage and intake every week and gradually wean themselves off the gum.
