There are people who have smoked for decades. As a part of their daily routine, they smoke when they get out of bed, when they eat, all through the day and before they go to bed. They have even made allotted time just for smoking, or smoke while they work.
A smoker will find just any reason to have a cigarette. You see people driving and smoking. People go out to a club to dance or drink, they have a cigarette. They get themselves in a stressful situation they smoke. If they are board they smoke. “Smokers like to smoke.”
These are actually excuses. Smokers smoke because they are addicted to the nicotine. The more you smoke the greater the need to smoke as time goes on. These people have smoked for so long that they don’t know how to handle situations without a cigarette.
Most people who have smoked for a long time are; find it hard to change their habits. These are the type of people who try and try to quit smoking and think they can’t quit.
When the urge hits you to smoke, do something else. Quit what you are doing and change that routine immediately. If you can’t; then occupy your mind with something else. Chew gum; get a drink of water or a piece of candy.
Train your brain not to think about a cigarette; with the determination to quit you can do this. |
