Are there Nicotine Cravings for Everyone While Quitting?

While trying to stop smoking most patients usually struggle with nicotine cravings. Sometimes the cravings can become really intense and last for a few minutes. Not only can the cravings become intense they can distract the patient from work and getting things done. While the patient is trying to stop smoking there are things that they can do to help so the cravings won't become so strong.

Tips With Quitting Smoking:

- Get a lot of sleep when trying to stop. Patients who don't get enough sleep often struggle with stress and if someone is battling stress and cravings at the same time it can become really difficult for them.

- Having some kind of distraction is another good thing. Some make the mistake and try using work as a distraction but most times work can trigger the cravings because of the stress that comes with it.

- Getting exercise can help to reduce cravings for nicotine. A patient should get at least 20-30 minutes of exercise per day. This will also help with losing weight and getting the body healthy.

- The last tip for reducing nicotine cravings is to stop eating chocolate and sugar food items. There are some food items that might trigger cravings and patients should avoid high calorie foods while trying to stop.

If the cravings continue and the patient is not getting any relief from them then they should contact the doctor and see if the doctor recommends medications or patches.
