Can Lozenges Help the Effects of Nicotine Withdrawal?

Nicotine Lozenges contains nicotine which helps in reducing craving by providing relief during nicotine withdrawal. Lozenge is only to be placed in mouth and not to be swallowed or chewed.  Lozenges can help in reducing the effects of Nicotine withdrawal but one should follow the procedure and take care of certain things. Smoking should be completely stopped before using nicotine lozenge. Nicotine lozenge is available in 2 does 2 mg and in 4 mg. If you smoke within 30 minutes of getting out of bed in the morning then 4 mg is recommended else 2mg should be used. If it seems difficult for you to quit smoking, your doctor might prescribe a 4mg dose, but in no case should you take more than 20 lozenges in a single day.  Lozenge should be kept in mouth and allowed to dissolve. You can move the Lozenge on either sides of mouth for it to dissolve fully. Also you shouldn’t eat or drink anything while it is in mouth or even before keeping it in mouth. At least for first six weeks one should use 9 Lozenges every day. It is important to note that taking Lozenges one after another may cause hiccups, nausea or even heartburn.
