What Is Chantix? |
Chantix is a new drug out that let's smoke up to a week before you quit smoking. Chantix is only prescribed by a doctor and it does have side affects. How all this works. If you are a smoker you are addicted to nicotine. Nicotine causes the receptors in your brain to release chemicals. One chemical is called dopamine that gives you positive feelings from smoking. When you stop smoking theses chemical substances are lowered and you get what is known as a nicotine withdrawal. Side affects to these withdrawals are lack of sleep, being irritable, over eating, just to name a few. These withdrawal symptoms usually start appearing after you have not smoked for three to eight hours. Some people have reported having withdrawal symptoms months after they have quit smoking. Chantix like most stop smoking aids, release small amounts of dopamine to the brain to help you with your withdrawals. If something should happen and you pick up a cigarette and smoke it while taking Chantix, the pleasure as you once knew of cigarette smoking is no longer there. Chantix does not let the nicotine affect your brain as it use to. Therefore, you do not get as much out of smoking as your use too. |
